Step-by-Step Guide: How Much Raw Food Should Your Dog Eat?

The general rule of thumb is to feed your dog between 2% and 3% of their body weight per day. For example:

-
Small Dogs (10lbs): They would need between 0.2lbs (3.2oz) & 0.3lbs (4.8oz) of raw food daily.
-
Medium Dogs (25lbs): They would need between 0.5lbs (8oz) & 0.75lbs (12oz) of raw food daily.
-
Large Dogs (50lbs): They would need between 1lb (16oz) & 1.5lbs (24oz) of raw food daily.

Adjusting for Activity Level

Your dogs activity level plays a significant role in determining how much food they need. Active or working dogs may require closer to 3% or even more, while less active dogs might do well with closer to 2%.

-
Active/Working Dogs: These dogs burn more calories and therefore need more fuel. Adjust their portions upward to meet their energy needs.
-
Less Active Dogs: For dogs that are more sedentary, such as senior dogs or those with limited exercise, consider lowering the portion size slightly to prevent weight gain.
